"<em>I had no idea about our nuclear plants having such technology. That is very interesting. I just wondering if countries who are broke will have access to that technology.</em>"

All except the former Soviet Union have <a href="http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=teller+%22void+coefficient%22+%22reactor+safeguard+committee%22&btnG=Google+Search&meta=" rel="nofollow">always had it</a>.

I had no idea about our nuclear plants having such technology. That is very interesting. I just wondering if countries who are broke will have access to that technology. Where is the IAEA when you need them? Oh yeah, they are being bitched around by the UN.

"Being alive and conscious are two different things" I couldn't agree more.

"Are we the Earth's consciousness" That, my friend, is one scary thought. Because if we are the earth's consciousness, we are completely unaware of our body's needs.

String theory isn't directly related to Gaia theory but receives far more media attention, scientific community attention and funding than a theory like Gaia theory that has immediate implications for human survival.

The incident at Chernobyl has definitely caused serious problems for the land surrounding it, but an accident like that will never happen again. Modern fission reactor control systems are designed to shut everything down. The moderator in the reactor at Chernobyl accelerated the reaction, in US systems the moderator will slow the reaction. For more on CO2 emissions follow Anthony Watts' blog linked to above.

Many have tried to communicate with celestial bodies, with little solid evidence. However, if the Earth is "alive" that leaves room for other levels of consciousness to be explored. Being alive and conscious are two different things. Are we the Earth's consciousness?

The book sounds interesting. Gaia theory does sound very interesting. My only question is "What does string theory have anything to do with Gaia theory?". I thought string theory was a theory that helped explain events leading to the big bang? Then again, I don't have a physics degree. Another interesting part is the mention of Chernobyl. It had minor immediate casualties. The unfortunate thing is that the Chernobyl region now has a higher than average birth rate defect and a decrease in life-span for the people in the affected (is that right? I keep on messing up on the whole affect/effect shit. It drives me nuts) area. The full repercussions of Chernobyl have yet to be explored. As for the whole green energy thing and CO2 emissions; it seems interesting, although my knowledge is limited in that area as well. As for the sunspot speculation; that does appear interesting. My knowledge being limited to the intro to astronomy class I took with Dr. Tyson, it would be interesting to see if there is a communication of sorts between celestial bodies. Unfortunately, for me, it seems unlikely (but this is a throw back to psychology. I tend to see disconnect while you tend to do the opposite). I do enjoy the power humanity is now afforded by the author's comments. I think humanity can achieve g/dhood if they try hard enough. That's my own personal megalomaniacal neurosis.
