For those of you that may remember, a few weeks ago I received a rejection email from Stanford University to my dismay. Fortunately, an hour later Stanford emailed me back to say that I had been sent this message in error and that a decision had not yet been made on my admission for this fall. This prepared me for what I thought would be the initial shock and pain of being rejected… a feeling I had until I received this email today:
Dear William,
Congratulations! It is our pleasure to inform you of your admission to the Master of Science Degree program in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford University beginning Fall Quarter of 2009. We wanted to contact you and let you know of your admissions as soon as possible to help you reach a decision about your graduate career.
As a rule, students admitted to the M.S. degree should not anticipate receiving financial aid from our department to support their Stanford studies and should view the M.S. as a terminal degree at Stanford.
Please feel free to contact our student services manager, [redacted] at [redacted] with any questions you may have. We look forward to hearing from you soon and greeting you as an incoming M.S. student next fall.
Sincerely yours,
